Brown Egg Layers

These are some of our favorite (and most popular) Chicken Breeds. We love to buy an assortment of breeds, mostly for egg production while others are great to use as show birds. A good egg layer will produce about 4-5 eggs a week or more.

Most of these hens keep shelling out eggs, right through the winter. (By the way, a rooster is not needed for a hen to lay eggs!)
All breeds listed below do well in hot weather, make sure they still have some shade and fresh water at all times! We hope this helps you select the right breed that you'll enjoy in your own back yard!
